Description

The "Ant Hill" cake is a delicious dessert made with condensed milk and walnuts in homemade conditions, bringing back the taste of childhood memories! This famous dessert is easy to prepare, unlike most cakes, and has remained popular for many years. It has a unique appearance, justifying its name, and doesn't require additional decorations. The crumbly shortcrust pastry combined with the excellent condensed milk cream is a stunning combination!

To make it, you'll need the simplest and most readily available ingredients.

There are several recipes for this treat. In our homemade "Ant Hill" cake, we'll use not only condensed milk and walnuts but also liquid honey and poppy seeds. This is the perfect recipe for me, tried and tested, and a personal favorite. Even a beginner cook can handle it without the need for a meat grinder or other equipment for the dough; you'll only need a grater.

You can serve it in its classic form or as small individual portioned cakes, depending on your preference.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Sift the flour into a deep bowl, add sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda. Mix everything well.

  2. Cut the heavy cream butter into cubes, 250 g, add it to the bowl, and rub it into crumbs with your hands.

  3. Add sour cream and eggs. Knead a soft dough.

  4. Divide the resulting dough into 4 portions and shape each into a ball. Wrap each ball in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.

  5. Place a jar of condensed milk in hot water for 5 minutes to make the condensed milk more liquid. Then, transfer the contents of the jar to a deep bowl. Add 100g of sour cream and 2 tablespoons of honey to it. Mix until smooth.

  6. By that time, the dough should have hardened. Grate it on a large grater onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spreading it evenly in a thin layer. Bake for 15 minutes at a temperature of 200 degrees Celsius.

  7. After baking and cooling, break the baked dough into small pieces with your hands.

  8. Add chopped walnuts that have been lightly toasted in a dry skillet to the crumbled dough.

  9. Add our condensed milk and honey cream to it, and mix everything thoroughly.

  10. Shape it with your hands into a compact cake form, in the shape of a hill, resembling a real anthill. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of honey on top.

  11. Sprinkle poppy seeds on top.

  12. The "Ant Hill" cake should be placed in the refrigerator for 5 hours. Then it can be served. One hour before serving, you can take it out of the refrigerator and leave it at room temperature, making it easier to cut, and the cake becomes even more delicious. Enjoy your tea!
