Description

The most delicious apple pie with a juicy filling and shortcrust pastry. Everything as we like it - lots of apples, and little dough! The filling, with the addition of cinnamon and nutmeg, is very aromatic, complementing the tastiest thin pastry. The ingredients needed are simple and readily available. This homemade pastry will appeal to everyone and is reminiscent of famous traditional American and Australian apple pies.

It's best to choose tart apple varieties, ideally seasonal and aromatic ones. And serve the finished pastry with a dollop of whipped cream, a cup of tea, or coffee.

The preparation process is clear and straightforward, resulting in a delicious apple pie with plenty of filling and thin, crispy pastry. So, I offer a detailed preparation recipe.

Instructions

  1. Sift the wheat flour, add the salt, and mix everything. Cut the softened butter into small pieces, place it in the flour, and mix well with a fork.

  2. Add water and knead a uniform dough. Wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour.

  3. Peel and chop the apples into medium-sized pieces. Sprinkle the chopped apples with sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, and flour. Mix well.

  4. Take the dough out of the refrigerator and divide it into two parts. Lay out a sheet of parchment paper, sprinkle it with flour, place one part of the dough, and form a crust. Sprinkle the dough with flour and cover it with another sheet of paper. This way, you need to roll out the dough thinly between the two sheets of paper.

  5. In this recipe, a 24 cm diameter form is used. Place the rolled-out dough in the form, covering the bottom and the sides.

  6. Place the apple filling on the dough and spread it evenly using a spoon.

  7. Roll out the second part of the dough just like the first one, and cover the filling. It's most convenient to transfer the dough directly on parchment paper. Cover the pie with parchment paper with the rolled-out dough on top, and then gently remove it.

  8. Pinch the edges.

  9. Trim off any excess.

  10. Run a fork along the edges to seal them better.

  11. Brush the pie with milk, sprinkle with brown sugar, and make a cross-shaped incision in the center on top. Bake in the oven for 50 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius.

  12. The apple pie with a juicy filling should stand for about 3 hours before serving, and it can be served with a scoop of whipped cream. Enjoy your tea!
