Chicken in sweet and sour sauce
Description
Savory chicken in fragrant sweet and sour sauce is a delicious Chinese dish that you can easily and quickly prepare at home. Tender pieces of chicken in a spicy sauce are served with hot rice. This is a wonderful full meal for lunch or dinner.

Boil the rice. Rinse the rice thoroughly in cold water and then place it in a saucepan with two cups of water. Bring to a boil, add 1 tsp of salt, and simmer for 15 minutes over low heat until cooked.
Cut the chicken breasts into pieces.

Place the chicken in a deep bowl, season with salt and pepper, and add the cornstarch. Mix thoroughly.

Sauté the meat in a well-heated skillet with oil for about 3-4 minutes. Set aside the chicken in a separate plate.

In a dry skillet, add the sugar. Then, add vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, and ketchup. Mix well.

Bring the mixture to a boil.

In a separate bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with two tablespoons of water. Pour the mixture into the skillet. Cook the sauce until it thickens, about 1 minute over low heat.

Place the sautéed chicken pieces into the sauce. Cook for 1-2 minutes over low heat.

Sweet and sour chicken is ready. We will serve it with rice, sesame seeds, and green onions, if desired. Enjoy!
