  1. Sauté the sliced onions until golden brown. Towards the end of cooking, add a dash of sugar, salt, and paprika.

  2. Disassemble the mackerel into fillets. Remove all the bones and finely chop.

  3. Grate the boiled potatoes on a large grater directly onto the serving dish. This will be our first layer.
